In the world of shipbuilding, steel is the stuff dreams are made of. It’s hard, stable and flexible. On the other hand, steel is delicate. If it’s not protected, it breaks.

With us, corrosion has no chance! And not only that: we grind, trowel, varnish and polish. Because smooth hulls save fuel, and mega-yachts get their final touch only with a mirror-smooth finish.

and where we come from

Our company was founded in 2000 by Ismail Giourouk, a man to whom the industry in Hamburg owes a lot. Initially, he wanted to be a doctor but had to cancel his studies in the last semester, however, for political reasons. About Bulgaria and a short trip to the pharmacy business, he came to Hamburg, found a job at Blohm & Voss, and learned everything there is to know about the protection of steel and the processing of ship surfaces.

His attitude towards his work can be summed up in one sentence: „Quality leads to success!“ At a time when shipping was not always easy, he consistently focused on adherence to quality standards and deadlines as a recipe for success.
Anyone who works like this needs reliable staff – and he found it in his old hometown Xanthi, a small town in the north-east of Greece.
Shipbuilding has shaped the economy of Greece for millennia. And in the region around Xanthi, it was for centuries one of the most important economic factors. But the slump in the shipping industry did not go past Greece. Orders were cancelled, yards shrunk or stopped altogether. The result: many well-trained workers were looking for new jobs. Giourouk’s offer to come to Germany for three months was just right for many.

For decades, the headquarters of „Giourouk“ consisted of only a small office. Here Ismael Giourouk sat, telephoned, organized and connected to his network. Reliability, punctuality and a high-quality awareness are three reasons for his success; a fourth was his talent to deal with people. He knew each of his approximately 200 employees by their first name, he was faithful to arrangements, had an open ear for everyone and helped with when help was needed. Many executives of today’s shipbuilding companies have learned from him.
The close connections to Xanthi and the right experiences on all sides are a significant potential of our company. Thanks to them, we are able to get additional, well-trained workers at any time in order to handle larger projects on time and on schedule.

Ismail Giourouk died in 2019. His sons Moustafa and Chousein took over. Some things have changed: the business has grown, process drivers have been added, new fields of work developed. The recipe for success of the father – quality leads to success – but still applies and was packed in a modern slogan: „The Power of Quality“.
